Maurine Bryan Flynn, age 91, of Hot Springs, Arkansas passed away Monday, August 16th, 2010 at St. Joseph's Mercy Hospital in Hot Springs. She was born in a log cabin in Searcy County, Arkansas on August 3rd, 1919 to Ella (Shipman) and Perry Bryan. Her youth was spent in Searcy County, where at the age of 17 years Maurine Bryan was elected "Miss Leslie" for 1936. On February 26th, 1937 she went to Pine Bluff, Ark. and competed in the All-State Beauty Show. Maurine started her business career in her early 20's opening a branch of the Leslie Killebrew Dry Good Store in Harrison, Ark. Prior to living at West Shores Retirement center in Hot Springs, she was a long time resident of North Little, Ark. where she was a member of Park Hill Christian Church and owned the Fabric Center in Lakewood Shopping Center. After the death of her husband, Frank, she moved back to Leslie, Ark. and opened an antique and collectible store until her retirement. After 30+ years with family and friends in Leslie she moved to Trillium Park in Conway, Ark., later moving to Hot Springs to be closer to her son, Don. Maurine's home in Leslie was always open to her family and friends. For many years her family joined her for Sunday dinner. She was much loved by family and friends and will be truly missed. Maurine Bryan Flynn is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Frank Flynn, three sisters, Daphne Killebrew, Juanita Reeves and Jackie Chambers, and one brother, Ralph Bryan. Her sons, Don Flynn of Hot Springs, Ark and Frank Flynn of Kennewick, Washington, Frank's son and daughter and his four grandchildren, survive Maurine. She also has several nieces, nephews and many cousins who survive her. Visitation for Maurine Bryan Flynn will be Thursday, August 19th, 2010 from 6-8 p.m. at Roller-Coffman Chapel in Marshall, Ark. Her service will be 2 p.m., Friday, August 20th, 2010 at Leslie First Baptist Church with Bro. Wiley Hardin and Tom Knapp officiating. Music will be by Brook Singletary and Sandy Knapp. Burial will follow in East Lawn Cemetery in Marshall, Ark. Pallbearers are Eric Singletary, Shane Harness, Don Jackson, Hank Boyd, Bob Chambers and Jess Knapp. Honorary pallbearers are Don Boyd, Jerry Passmore, Dr. Danny Rowe and the nurses of 2 East at St. Joseph's Mercy Hospital and the staff of West Shores Retirement Center.
