Cornell C. Yates, 72, of Royal, Arkansas passed away Sunday, August 29, 2010 at a local hospital. He was born September 15, 1937 in Chickasha, Oklahoma. Mr. Yates retired as a sales representative with Oshkosh and Wrangler; and was owner of Maries Flowers and Gifts; a United States Navy Veteran and was of the Baptist faith. He was predeceased by his parents, Lillie Davis Yates and Dewey Yates, and four brothers, Dewey Yates Sr, Bruce Yates, O.J. Yates and Bobby Lee Yates. Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Brenda Yates of Royal; one son, Mark Meredith (Heather) Yates of Royal; one daughter, Kelly (Benny) Efird of Royal; three grandchildren, Ethan Efird, Mark Yates and Meredith Yates. Visitation will be 6:30 PM to 8:30 p.m., Wednesday, September 1st at Hot Springs Funeral Home. Services will be 2 p.m., Thursday, September 2nd at Hot Springs Funeral Home with Stacy Sanders and Dr. Jimmy Holland officiating. Burial will follow at Lowe Cemetery. Pallbearers are Mac Stubbs, Tommy Norton, Randy Odom, Ricky Hart, Gerald Hammock and Wade Harrell. Honorary Pallbearers are JoAnn Luker, Pat & Milt Wilder, Donny Moore and Elissa & Art McMahon.
