Dr. Klaude Kendrick, 93, of Fayetteville, Ark. passed away Saturday, August 28, 2010 at the Butterfield Trail Village. He was born in Douglas, Arizona on June 5, 1917, and was raised in the Phoenix area, where he completed his Public School Education. He was preceded in death by his parents and three older brothers. Dr. Kendrick's wife, Gracie, died in Brussels, Belgium in 1990, and their only son, Karl, also died 1990. He is survived by a daughter, Karen Thompson and husband Jerry of Alma, Ark.; a daughter in law Renee Kendrick of Little Rock, Ark.; his only sister, Vivian Reddick, who lives in Butterfield Trail Village, Fayetteville, Ark.; four grandchildren, Tom Thompson of Alma, Ark., Terri Shoate and husband A.V. of Dallas, Texas, Nathan and Matthew Kendrick of Little Rock, Ark.; two great-grandchildren, Robert Griggs and Cordel Thompson of Alma, Ark. Dr. Kendrick married Mable Walker, who with her late husband ministered for the Assemblies of God for 5- years. After high school Klaude graduated from Southwestern Assemblies of God College in Waxahachie, Texas in 1938, Completed the B.A. degree at Texas Wesleyan University, Ft Worth, TX in 1945; obtained the M.A. Degree from Texas Christian University, Ft Worth, Texas in 1948 and earned his PHD from the University of Texas, Austin, Texas in 1959. His studies on the terminal level were concentrated in history and college administration. He commenced his professional work with Southwestern Assemblies of God College. Though he had served the college in minor capacities for three years previously, his full time involvement began in 1940. There he filled positions of instructor, Dean of Men, Business Manager, and finally Vice President from 1940 to 1955. From 1955 to 1960 he served Evangel College, Springfield, MO, filling the office of Academic Dean and President. In 1960 he returned to Southwestern Assemblies of God College, where he filled the office of President until 1965. That year he joined the staff of Texas Wesleyan University where he served as Chairman of the Division of Social Services until 1977. He completed his professional work in College Administration by serving Southern California College, Costa Mesa, CA as Academic Dean from 1977 to 1979 when he retired. He was raised in the Assemblies of God Church and received his clerical credentials from that body in 1938. In connection with his responsibilities in education he also served local church bodies, the longest tenure with Bethel Temple, Ft Worth, Texas, where he served for more than 30 years. He also served in several official church positions, including the Presbytery of the North Texas District Council of the Assemblies of God and a number of committees for the General Council of the Assemblies of God. Since his formal retirement in 1979 from college administration he has accepted a number of assignments to churches and educational institutions. In the connection, he served more than two years at the Far East Advanced School of Theology, Baguio, Philippines, where he was involved in assisting in the upgrading of that school to the graduate level. A memorial service will be held Saturday, September 4, 2010 at 1:30pm at the First Assembly of God Church, 1605 West Robinson Rd, Springdale, Arkansas. Arrangements are under the direction of the Backstrom-Pyeatte Funeral Home of Springdale. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Evangel University, Springfield, Mo.; Southwestern University, Waxahachie, Texas or to Butterfield Trail Village, Fayetteville, Ark.
