Edith French Hansen

EDITH FRENCH HANSEN, 102, of Little Rock, died on Dec. 2, 2010. Born May 19, 1908 in Pangburn, Ark.s, she was the daughter of Andrew Jackson French and Rilla Scot French. This remarkable woman lived 102 years and in those years experienced a full and rich life. Though coming from humble beginnings, she possessed a sense of pride in her many accomplishments. She retired from Southwestern Bell Telephone Company of Searcy, became involved in artistic investment, obtained her real estate license and then her broker's license and, in that capacity, worked for years in central Arkansas. She participated in many club activities through the years and served in leadership roles in some. But the thing she was proudest of was her 62-year relationship with her beloved husband, Col. Grant Hansen. Together they shared many experiences from walking across a volcano to working in real estate together! She, the practical one and he, the dreamer – together they lived and loved through WWII, through presidents, through rough times and affluent times. They danced through the Big Band era, witnessed the psychedelic 60's, grieved at the loss of our nation's innocence in the 70's and applauded the birth and development of computers and the increasingly advanced technology of the last two decades! Mrs. Hansen was a strong and articulate woman and will be sorely missed by all who loved her. Her funeral service will be provided by Roller-Chenal Funeral Home, (501)224-8300, and will be held 9 a.m., on Monday, Dec. 6, 2010, at the funeral home, followed by a 12 Noon graveside service at Henderson Cemetery in Pangburn. Memorials may be made to Humane Society of Pulaski County, 14600 Colonel Glenn Road, Little Rock, Ark. 72210. Online guestbook: www.rollerfuneralhomes.com/chenal.
