RACHEL MARY RUTLEDGE, 18, of Little Rock, Ark., passed away Dec. 9, 2010. She is survived by her parents, Joel and Kathy Rutledge and her brother, Dan of Little Rock, her grandmother, Agnes Wells and several aunts, uncles and cousins. She was a 2010 summa cum laude graduate of Mount St. Mary Academy where she was editor of the school newspaper. She was one of eight state winners of the 2009 National Council of Teachers of English Achievement Award in writing, and a 2010 Stephens Award winner. She was a varsity cheerleader 2006-2010, a National Merit Finalist and a graduate of Arkansas Governor's School. She was awarded a 2010 Chancellor's Scholarship from the University of Arkansas, and had been accepted in the University of Missouri School of Journalism. She was known for her wit, her poetry, her writing, her creativity, her sense of humor, her love for animals, and her championing of the underdog. She was a member of Christ the King Catholic Church. Rosary will be held Monday, 6:30 p.m., Dec. 13 at Christ the King Catholic Church. Visitation will be held Tuesday, 10 a.m., Dec. 14 with Funeral Mass at 11 a.m. at Christ the King Catholic Church. Burial will be at Calvary Catholic Cemetery, Little Rock.
