John W. Smith

John W. Smith, 67, of Sherwood, Arkansas passed away Tuesday, December 14th, 2010. He was born December 12th, 1943 in Forrest City, Arkansas to Wiley LeeRoy and Eula Lee Coleman Smith. John was a United States Army Veteran, having served during the Vietnam War. He was a member of the Kellogg Valley Baptist Church and loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Jason W. Smith. Cherishing his memory are his wife of 46 years, Carolyn Smith; one son, Jonathan Smith of Sherwood; one daughter and son-in-law, Kim and Mark Whitlow of Cabot; four grandchildren, Jordan, Haley, Landon, and Payton; one sister, Joy Crick of Jackson, Mississippi, and a host of friends and other relatives. A celebration of John's life will be held at 9 a.m., Friday December 17th, 2010 in the chapel of Griffin Leggett-Rest Hills Funeral Home, 7724 Landers Road, North Little Rock, (501) 835-3515, with Bro. Paul Rice officiating. Burial with military honors will follow at the Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m., Thursday, December 16th, 2010 at the funeral home.
