Jess Evans Brown, Jr.

Jess Evans Brown, Jr., 78, of Lonoke, Ark., departed this life on Sunday, December 19, 2010. He was born August 12, 1932 in Humphrey, Ark. Mr. Brown was retired from a long career as a home builder. He took great pride in his craftsmanship while working in the Central Arkansas area. He enjoyed gardening, reading, and spending time with family and friends. He loved to tell stories of his days as a football player, where he earned the nickname "Bomber Brown". He was also a private pilot. Mr. Brown attended Brownsville Baptist Church in Lonoke. He was a proud veteran of the U. S. Army. He is survived by Fay Brown, his loving wife of 35 years; son Doug Brown, of DeValls Bluff, Ark.; son Alan Jamison, of Fayetteville, Ark.; son Joe Daniels, of Lonoke, Ark.; daughter Beth Ernst, of North Little Rock, Ark.; sister Miriam Vernor, of West Memphis, Ark.; sister Barbara Ann Volner, of Lake Village, Ark.. Mr. Brown is also survived by nine grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, 14 nieces and 15 nephews. Mr. Brown is proceeded in death by son Jess Brown III, of Little Rock, Ark.; son Don Brown, of DeValls Bluff, Ark.; parents Dora and Jess Brown, of Biscoe, Ark.; sister Beatrice Gentry, of Mobile, Ala.; brother Buddy Brown, of Sheridan, Ark.; and sister Gerald Dean Brewer, of Clarendon, Ark. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, December 21, 2010, at 10 a.m. at Brownsville Baptist Church in Lonoke. Burial will be at Brownsville Cemetery.
