Virgil Franklin Weems, 78, of Traskwood, went to be with his Lord and family December 26, 2010. He was born February 26, 1932 in Caddo Gap, AR, a son of the late James D. and Lula Belle (Tedford) Weems. He was retired from Alcoa as a heavy equipment operator, a member of Traskwood Assembly of God Church, a past treasurer of the City of Traskwood and a former city council member. He had also served as a trustee of both Haskell and Traskwood Assembly of God Churches. He loved fishing, deep-sea fishing and hunting. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Ruthilea, and one granddaughter, Freedom Marie Weems. Survivors include four sons; Virgil Ronald Weems and wife, Lanora June, Burl Eugene Weems and wife Tina, Paul Weems, and Lloyd Rickey Weems and wife, Toni; one daughter, Jackie Loretta Ulery and husband Ray; two sisters, Nancy Harmon and husband, John and Vida Harris; one brother, James Earnest Weems and wife, Retha; 14 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren and many other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., Thursday, December 30, 2010 at Traskwood Assembly of God Church with Rev. Troy Smith officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Harmony Cemetery in Haskell. Serving as pallbearers will be Christopher Ulery, Joshua Weems, Jeremy Weems, John Weems, James Franklin Weems and Paul Weems. Honorary pallbearers will be Virgil Weems, Eugene Weems, Earnest Weems, Rickey Weems and John Harmon.
