David Lee Ingram died on June 27, 2010 at his home. Funeral services will be held on Friday, July 2, 2010 at 11:30 a.m. at the First Baptist Church, McMinnville, Ore. Viewing will be on Thursday, July 1, 2010 from 4 p.m. – 7 p.m. at the Chapel of Macy & Son, McMinnville. David Ingram was born in Dallas, Texas on October 19, 1958. He began studying piano in 1966, having his first public premier of original compositions at a National Fraternal Congress of America Convention in Dallas, Texas on October 1, 1972. Mr. Ingram made his first appearance as a piano soloist with orchestra in 1977 at Kilgore College, Kilgore, Texas, while studying with Anne Dean Turk. During college, additional orchestral appearances followed in 1978, 1979, 1981. After receiving a Bachelor of Music degree (1981) from East Texas State University, Commerce, Texas (now Texas A&M University-Commerce); he continued his education with a Master of Music degree (1983) from the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville, Arkansas, studying piano with Dr. John Cowell, Dr. Art Tolleson and Alan Chow. Following graduation, he taught privately in Fayetteville and concertized in the Midwest. In 1992, Mr. Ingram moved to McMinnville, Oregon, where he currently resides with wife and family. He maintains a large private studio of piano and composition students. In the fall of 1995, he joined Willamette University as Staff Accompanist and Instructor of Music. Recent engagements have taken him throughout the Northwest, including a appearance with the Salem Chamber Orchestra and a world premiere, also with Salem Chamber Orchestra. He was an active member of the OMTA, and Oregon Junior Bach Festival. In 2006, he became part of the First Baptist Worship Team, which he enjoyed and it was a big part of his life. Mr. Ingram has two original compositions recorded, Etchings and Etchings II. And he has a music video on Youtube that he recorded, Taccata. David was survived by his wife Karla Ingram of McMinnville, Ore.; daughters, Amanda Perkins of McMinnville, Ore. and Ashley Perkins of Dallas, Ore.; his mother, Gay Ingram of Big Sandy, Texas; his father, Paul Ingram of Big Sandy, Texas; his brother, Robert Ingram of Gilmer, Texas. He was survived by his grandchildren, Alexa Perkins (13 months) Joshua Perkins (26 days) of McMinnville, Ore. David had a love for music and touched many lives in the field that he chooses for his life's work. He was touched by his students and colleagues which gave him much joy in his working with all through the years. David thought there was nothing better than a great piece of music, and performing it at the best of your ability. His music will be greatly missed by all who knew him and the many people who he performed with both professionally and personally.
