Anna Ruth Ellington

Anna Ruth Ellington, age 84, of Russellville, died Thursday, July 1, 2010 at Saint Mary's Regional Medical Center. A daughter of the late Starling Author and Ella Mae Mainer McCarty, she was born Nov. 1, 1925 at Ratcliff, Ark. She was former industrial supervisor and a member of the Little Flock Primitive Baptist Church at Paris. She enjoyed gardening, and was a very social person, visiting with people and being a loving caregiver for members of her family. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Lewis Preston Ellington; and a brother, Lawrence Truman McCarty. Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Steve and Janis Ellington of Gravette; two daughters and a son-in-law: Louise Daniel and Elaine and Jerry Howard, all of Russellville; a special sister-in-law, RoseMary McCarty of Springdale; nine grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren. The funeral service will be at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, July 6, 2010 at the Shinn Chapel, officiated by the Bro. Jack McCarty. Burial will be in the Ellington Family Cemetery near Blue Mountain, by Shinn Funeral Service. Active pallbearers will be Tom Daniel, Preston Ellington, Scott Howard, Nathan Hopkins, Jeff McCarty and Jay Mac McCarty. Honorary pallbearers will be her great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends on Monday evening, from 6 to 8 p.m, at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association, Post Office Box 1653, Topeka, Kan. 66601-1653.
