Dallas Edward Cordell

Dallas Edward Cordell, age 84, of Lonoke passed away Sunday, July 11, 2010. He was born March 1, 1926 in Marianna to David Cordell and Mamie Hodges Cordell. He served in the US Navy during World War II aboard the USS Wyandot AKA-92 Naval Vessel. He was a farmer early in life, then later began a life long career as a carpenter. He loved building anything and everything from boats, to minnow boxes, and homes; building homes all over Lonoke and surrounding areas. Dallas was preceded in death by his wife, Juanita Lois Sullivan Cordell with whom he shared a love for gardening; also preceded by his sister, Gladys Wharton, a brother James Cordell, and a grandson, Sam Dalton Cordell. He is survived by three children, Sandra Strickland of Lonoke, Phillip Cordell of Nashville, Tennessee, and Dennis Cordell of Lonoke. Dallas is also survived by five grandchildren, Merideth Henry, Shane Henry, Parker Cordell and wife Brandi, Hunter Cordell, and Katie Cordell; two great-grandchildren, Zoe and Rachel McMinn, and his dog Scooby. The family will receive friends Tuesday, July 13 from 5-7 p.m. at the funeral home. Funeral Services will be held at Boyd Funeral Home, Lonoke Wednesday, July 14 at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in Lonoke Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, make donations to the Wade Knox Children's Advocacy Center, Lonoke.
