Elizabeth Ann Mason, 56, of El Dorado passed away Sunday, July 18, 2010 at the Medical Center of South Arkansas. She was born August 10, 1953 in Little Rock, AR to James Walker Elliott and Margaret Reynolds Elliott. Elizabeth had a BSE from UCA and a Masters from SAU. She was a member of the Kappa Delta Pi International Honor Society in Education and the Alpha Delta Kappa Educators Society for 25 years where she was president and secretary. She was named Outstanding Educator/Elementary 2002. She worked as a teacher in the El Dorado School District where she was coordinator of Gifted and Talented. She was the Southwest District Director of Odyssey of the Mind and served on the Board of Directors of Arkansas Odyssey of the Mind. She was a member of Wyatt Baptist Church and Awana Program Leader. Preceding her in death were her father, James W. Elliott and grandparents, Luther H. Elliott & Ella C. Elliott and Ernest F. Reynolds & Zella Reynolds. Survivors include her husband, John Keith Mason of El Dorado; her mother, Margaret Elliott of Benton, Ark.; brother, Randy Elliott (Trisha) of Nashville, Ark. and their children, Jill Alfaro (Kendall) and Cody Elliott, brother, Jerry Elliott (Debbie) of Benton, Ark. and their children Miranda Hardin (Brad) and Breanna Elliott and sister, Zella Earl (Larry) of Doniphan, Mo. and their children Leah Earl and John Earl; brother-in-law, Richard Mason (Stephanie) of Sherwood, Ark. and their children Monica & Amanda; sister-in-law, Jean Carroll (Vince) of Richardson, Texas and their children Johnna and Laura and a host of students that she loved and cared for as if they were her own. Funeral services will be held 10 a.m., Wednesday at Wyatt Baptist Church with Pastors Scott Atteberry & Larry Earl officiating. A concluding service will be held at 3:30 p.m. at Fowler Cemetery in Paron, Ark., Saline County, under the direction of Young's Funeral Directors.
