Joann Louise Cope Cornell

Joann Louise Cope Cornell passed away on July 21, 2010 in Little Rock, Arkansas. She was born March 20, 1938 in Martins Ferry, Ohio to the late Dr. Ellis and Elisabeth Kithcart Cope. She was a graduate of Little Rock Central High School, class of 1956 and attended Charity Hospital School of Nursing in New Orleans where she earned her Registered Nurse Degree. Joann married Dr. Paul Cornell in 1959 in New Orleans. Joann was a past President of the Arkansas Medical Society Auxillary and a Board Member of the Florence Crittenton Home in Little Rock. For many years, Joann worked in her husband's office and surgery. She enjoyed snow skiing, traveling and sewing. She retired briefly in Bondurant, Wyoming with her husband before returning to Little Rock after his death in 2000. Survivors include three children; Mike Cornell and wife Angela Caperton Cornell, Beth Cornell Parham and husband Manuel all of Little Rock and Mark Cornell and wife Cynthia Granger Cornell of Fayetteville; nine grandchildren, Rob Pearson, Andrew Cornell, Patrick Cornell, Chris Keretz, Bradley Keretz, Daniel Keretz, Melissa Keretz, Nicholas Cornell and Lauren Cornell. Funeral services will be 4 p.m. on Saturday, July 24, 2010 at Griffin Leggett Forest Hills Funeral Home, 10200 Hwy. 5 North, Alexander, Ark. (501)-455-1067. A visitation will be from 2 p.m. until service time. Joann will be buried with her husband at the Little Rock National Cemetery. The family wishes to express their sincere appreciation to the Staff at Brookside Health and to Odyssey Hospice for the excellent care and love they gave Joann. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Florence Crittenton Home of Little Rock and or the Pulaski County Humane Society.
