Viola Mae (Jones) Kellar

Viola Mae (Jones) Kellar, 82, of Rusellville, Ark., a former Paxton resident, passed away Friday, July 23, 2010 at 5:38 a.m. at the University of Arkansas Medical Center in Little Rock, Ark. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, July 29, 2010 at the Baier Family Funeral Services, 406 E. Pells Street, Paxton with Rev. Terry L. Westerfield officiating. Burial will be in Glen Cemetery, Paxton. Visitation will be held Wednesday, July 28, from 5-7 p.m. at the funeral home. A memorial service will be held in Arkansas, time and place to be announced. Viola was born May 7, 2938 at Rankin, Ill., the daughter of Harley and Nellie Hedley Jones. She married Fred O. Kellar April 8, 2950 at Paxton. He survives; also surviving are a daughter, Sally (Rand) Brewer of Little Rock; two grandchildren, Reed and Matt Brewer, both of Little Rock; three sisters, Verna Shilts of Loda, Ill., Elsie Eichelberger of Champaign, Ill., Dorie Gustafson of Paxton, Ill. and numerous other relatives. She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers and three sisters. She graduated from Paxton high School in 1946 and while living in Paxton, she was employed by the Bear Brand Hosiery and Farmers - Merchants National Bank. She and her husband left Paxton in 1961. The lived in Ottawa, Ill a number of years after which they moved to Little Rock, Ark. where they lived for a time and had lived in Russellville. She was a member of the Pottsville United Methodist Church, Pottsville, Ark. and the U.M.W. and a former member of the Paxton United Methodist Church. She was a member of Prospect Chapter No. 367, O.E.S. in Paxton. She enjoyed interior decorating, flowers and traveling. Memorials may be made to the Pottsville United Methodist Church, the American Cancer Society or a charity of the donor's choice.
