Dorothy Norton Reed, age 85, of Pine Bluff, died Tuesday, July 27, 2010, at Jefferson Regional Medical Center. Mrs. Reed was born March 21, 1925, in Rison, a daughter of the late Elmer Guy "Buck" Gavin and Geneva Shelby Gavin. Mrs. Reed was reared and educated in Rison. She was a graduate of Rison High School. She was a homemaker and a member of Olive Branch Missionary Baptist Church.
Mrs. Reed was preceded in death by her first husband, Carlton Norton, in 2002, her second husband, Leonard Reed, in 2008, a son, John David Norton and a brother, Felton Gavin. She is survived by a sonand daughter-in-law, Jerry and Judi Norton of Pine Bluff; grandson and granddaughter-in-law, Ryan and Leigh Norton of Ft. Smith; two great-grandchildren, Rylee Norton and Meg Norton, both of Ft. Smith; brother and sister-in-law, J. W. and Pat Gavin of Herbine.
Funeral services will be graveside Thursday, July 29, 2010, at 10 a.m. in Roselawn Cemetery by Ralph Robinson & Son Funeral Directors with Dr. Roger Stewart officiating. The family will receive friends at Robinson's, Wednesday evening from 4 to 6 p.m. Memorials may take the form of contributions to Olive Branch Missionary Baptist Church, 5130 Bobo Road, Pine Bluff, Arkansas 71603.
