Louise Burris Rose, 88, of Little Rock, formerly of North Little Rock passed away June 2, 2010. Louise was born April 30, 1922, to the late Earl Henry and Mabel Rasco Burris in Mexia, Texas. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Melvin B. Rose; two brothers, A.J. Burris and Woody Burris, and grandson, John William Carlton. Louise spent some of the happiest days of her life in the hills of Mena, Ark. She graduated from Mena High School, where she made many life-long friends. When she married Melvin B. Rose, they finally made their home in North Little Rock, Ark. She was a member of Park Hill Baptist Church for over 50 years. Louise is fondly remembered as a Sunday School teacher of countless two year olds, and later five year olds. She was instrumental in starting the Kindergarten Program at Park Hill Baptist in the late 60's. The program grew to include one of the first Christian day-care centers for children of working parents in the area. Later in life, Louise joined Bible Study Fellowship, and for many years she served as a group leader in the day class in North Little Rock, Ark. Her red hair and "Lucy" antics earned her the same nickname. Of all of her qualities, her unconditional love for people will be her legacy. She is survived by two sisters, Reba A. Workman, and Juanita Newman; one daughter, Patricia Rose Carlton and her husband, William P. Carlton; one granddaughter, Joanna Rose Kronbach and husband, K.C. Kronbach; and five great-grandchildren; and a very special friend, Mr. Aubrey Warren. Funeral service will be at 2 p.m., Friday, June 4, 2010 at Park Hill Baptist Church, 201 East "C" Avenue, North Little Rock, Ark. 72116, with Reverend Luke Flesher officiating. The family will receive friends from 1-2 p.m. before the service at the church. Arrangements made by Roller-Owens Funeral Home (501-791-7400). Louise's family extends a special thank you to her faithful caregivers, Deborah Piggee, Bridgette Piggee, Lisa Bruce, Gayle Green, and Cindy Stehle. The staff at Parkway Heights and Parkway Village, especially Lisa Lowery, Marsha Cunningham, Dr. Tolleson, Dottie Moore and Sharon Hernandez, last years full and fun. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions be made to The Children's Ministry at Park Hill Baptist Church. Online guestbook www.rollerfuneralhomes.com/owens.
