Vernon E. "Red" Bailey, 90, of Ward, Arkansas, went home to be with his Lord on Wednesday, June 2, 2010. Mr. Bailey was born and raised in the Griffithville area where he spent a lot of his life training horses, and served his country in the Army during WWII. "Red", as he was affectionately known by his friends, loved his Lord and Savior and devoted over forty years to ministering to prisoners and inmates in the jails and prisons. Bro. Red never met a stranger and was always eager to tell them about the Lord. He was an active member of Cornerstone Assembly in Ward. He is survived by his wife of sixty-four years, Lavonne, a sister, Erma McConnaughy, a brother, Vonda Val Bailey and a host of other friends and acquaintances. Family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at Westbrook Funeral Home, Beebe. Funeral will be 2 p.m. Monday, June 7, 2010, at Westbrook Funeral Home, with burial in Dogwood Cemetery at Griffithville. www.westbrookfuneralhome.com.
