John T. Goode, 82, of Little Rock, died June 13, 2010. Born in El Dorado, Arkansas on January 7, 1928, he was the son of the late John Young Goode and Lillian Taylor Goode. He was a U.S. Army veteran, a graduate of Oklahoma State University and retired from Southwestern Bell in 1986 following 42 years of service as a Division Manager, Network Administrator and Circuit Provisioning manager. He was a member of the SWB Pioneers. John was a deacon at St. Paul United Methodist Church, and served in almost every position at the church that he joined in 1964. He loved singing in the church choir. Preceded in death by his parents, son, David Goode and brother, Richard Goode, he is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Willie Goode; daughters, Nancy Goode and Beth Goode; son, Johnny Goode; and three grandsons, Cory, Taylor and Reed Willett. He was a sweet, kind-hearted man with a brilliant mind, and was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and friend. He was able to retire early from SWB which allowed him to pursue his charity work, enjoy golf and work in his yard. He always helped people in need, volunteering at several churches, the Salvation Army and driving a bus for Camp Aldersgate. The family would like to thank Dr. David Lipschitz and his staff for the wonderful care given to John. A Service with Military Honors will be held today, Wednesday, at 2 p.m. at St. Paul United Methodist Church, officiated by Rev. Blake Bradford and Rev. Mike Smith. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Paul United Methodist Church, 2223 Durwood Rd., Little Rock, Ark. 72207. Arrangements by Little Rock Funeral Home, 8801 Knoedl Ct., Little Rock, (501) 224-2200. Mr. Goode's online guestbook may be signed at www.littlerockfuneralhome.com.
