Mother Bernice B. Lambert, 74, of Little Rock, Ark. departed this life on June 14, 2010. She was born in Tulip, Arkansas and was the youngest of nine children to Reverend Willie B. Smith and Mother Mattie Baugh Smith. Mother Lambert was a humble servant of God. She exemplified the characteristics of compassion. For the past 16 years she served faithfully as the State Supervisor for the Women's Department of the Church of God in Christ Second Jurisdiction of Arkansas. Beginning her ministry under the leadership of Bishop Donne Lindsey of the New Calvary C.O.G.I.C. She was an anointed missionary, and affected the lives of those she came in contact with. Mother Lambert was a retired educator of the North Little Rock School District, and the founder of a successful Women's Empowerment Conference held annually in Hot Springs, Ark. Advocating for the battered Women's shelter with her outreach ministry was also her passion. She was married to the late Rev. Wesley Lambert Jr. as they walked side by side in ministry for over 30 years. She's survived by: one daughter, Vernita Shaw of North Little Rock, AR; one son, Wesley T. Lambert, III (Teresa) of Rex, Georgia; three grandchildren, Alex Shaw, Taryn and Kalie Lambert; one sister, Lacerine Bell of Malvern, Ark.; a host of nieces, nephews and her church family.
