Odis Wilton Wisely

Odis Wilton Wisely of Sheridan, Ark., was born Sept. 2, 1935 at Sheridan, the son of the late Elmer and Laura Newell Wisely. He was proud to be a member of Lost Creek Missionary Baptist Church in Sheridan for 60 years. During that time, he served as music director for many years, taught Sunday School and Training Course classes and was a Deacon. Mr. Wisely was a United States Army Veteran, having served for 16 years, part of which was during the Berlin Crisis. He also served in the Arkansas National Guard and was the Unit Commander for a time, in Sheridan, as well as Malvern. He was a graduate of Sheridan Schools, and earned a BSE and Masters Degree from Henderson State University. He taught classes in civics and later was a guidance counselor in the Sheridan School System for 33 years. Odis thoroughly enjoyed music. He liked to sing as well as play the piano. He also liked to garden and go camping and fishing. Mr. Wisely died Sunday, Nov. 7, 2010 at Hot Spring County Medical Center in Malvern at the age of 75. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Glen, Carl, Thurman and Macil Wisely; sisters, Willene Morgan and Reba Winston. Survivors include his wife and best friend, Natalie Chennault Wisely of the home; daughter, Cindy Wisely Edwards of Sheridan; son, Marvin and wife Sharen Wisely of North Little Rock; grandson, Jared Wisely of North Little Rock; brother, Carthel and wife Ruby Wisely of Sheridan as well as many nieces, nephews and lots of friends. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Tuesday, Nov. 9, 2010 at Lost Creek Missionary Baptist Church in Sheridan with Bro. Kenneth Click officiating. Burial will be in Lost Creek Cemetery.
