Donald E. Wheatley, age 64, of Searcy departed this life on Nov. 12, 2010. He is survived by his mother, Algean Haas and his sister, Janice Powers both of Searcy. Don has two biological sons, Don and Michael Wheatley both of California. He has three children that he raised and loved as his own, Cassandra, Willie and Aubrey Ruiz also of Searcy. Don was born in Little Rock, Oct. 26, 1946. His family moved to California when he was 6 months old. He served 3 years in the U.S. Navy. He worked for the city of San Jose for 30 years. Dan was a member of the Valley Baptist Church in Searcy. He loved the outdoors and his favorite pastime was driving the back roads of Arkansas. He was a favorite uncle to his nephews and nieces. Dan was preceded in death by his father, Calvin E. Wheatley and an infant daughter. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Powell Funeral Home Chapel of Searcy.
