David Ray Lain

Sheridan, AR, 1955 - 2010

David Ray Lain of Sheridan, Arkansas was born June 19, 1955, the son of Verla Ruth Austin Lain and the late Billy Ray Lain. He was a Baptist but attended First Assembly of God Church in Sheridan. David was employed as a Patrolman"108" at the Sheridan Police Department. He had previously worked for 20 years for the Pine Bluff Police Department. He enjoyed riding motorcycles and was a true cowboy. David died Tuesday, November 16, 2010 at St. Vincent Infirmary Medical Center in Little Rock at the age of 55. He was preceded in death by his father, Billy Ray Lain.
Survivors, wife, Gloria James Lain of Sheridan; son, Gary Lain of Pine Bluff; step-son, Michael Harris of El Paso, Texas; daughter, Jennifer Tillman and husband Jody of Redfield; step-daughter and special friend, Missy Harris of Sheridan; mother, Verla Ruth Lain of Sheridan; brother, Mike Lain and wife Brenda of Sheridan; Howard Edward Lain and wife Vickie of Warren; grandchildren, T.J. Tillman and Brandon Tillman. David is also survived by his dog, Sophie.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m., Friday, November 19, 2010 at Memorial Gardens Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Clyde Chenault and Bro. Michael Walton officiating. Burial will follow at Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Sheridan. Visitation: 5 until 8 p.m., Thursday at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be fellow officers of the Sheridan Police Department, Shane Green, Everett Wilkerson, David Holland, Willie Mann, Brent Cole, Brett Epperson. Honorary Pallbearers will be other officers and staff of the Sheridan Police Department and detention, Grant County Sheriff's Department, Grant County 911 dispatch, and other emergency agencies throughout Grant County.
