Lena Woody Hampton

Lena Woody Hampton, age 90, died November 17, 2010. She was born September 12, 1920, in Wild Cherry, Ark., to William Claude and Myrtle Barker Woody. Mrs. Hampton was a homemaker and a member of Bayou Meto United Methodist Church. Mrs. Hampton is preceded in death by her parents, husband, John Hampton; two stepchildren, Wayne Hampton and Hazel Hollingshead; brothers, Elvin, Cleo, Orvie, Gaious, and Thurston; half-sister, Rebecca; and a great-grandchild, John Hampton Rusk. Mrs. Hampton is survived by four grandchildren, Rick Hampton and wife Judy, Gay Rusk, Meredith Creekmore and husband Bob all of Stuttgart, and Barbara Erion and husband George of Conway; a half-brother, James Woody of West Plains, Mo.; seven great-grandchildren, Lt. Col. JoeI (Letty) Hampton, Sloan (Rhonda) Hampton, Amanda Rusk Holsted, Andrew Creekmore, Christy (Scott) Bonge, Penny (Stuart) Ray, Mathew (Lauren) Erion; and 11 great-great-grandchildren. Graveside services are 10 a.m. Friday, November 19, 2010, at Bayou Meto Cemetery by Essex Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, Mrs. Hampton requested memorials be made to either Bayou Meto United Methodist Church or Bayou Meto Cemetery, c/o Sue Berry, 1492 Hwy. 276, DeWitt, Ark. 72042.
