Doris S. Brown Jackson

A Celebration of Life-- Mrs. Doris S. Brown Jackson has returned to her heavenly Father. This "glorious exodus" took place at Southern Heritage Health & Rehab Center in McGehee, Arkansas on October 2, 2010. Doris is the eldest child of Weston and Rena Davenport-Smith. She worked at Roswells' bakery in McGehee and later became a beautician in the city of McGehee for many years. She was a member of St. Peter AME Church and later joined New Hope Missionary Baptist Church in Lake Village, Arkansas. Doris ministered to her children and many other young people in the community. She sang in the church choir and is fondly remembered for her beautiful alto voice. Her beautiful smile and cheerful spirit "spoke" to many souls. Doris was affectionately called: Mommie, Dab, Dolly and Baby Doll by her friends and family. Doris is preceded in "life" by many of her love ones; Weston, Rena, W.C (her only sibling) and two of her sons George W. Parker and Wayne A. Brown. Doris is "lovingly" remembered by her remaining children: Sandra J. Brown Caudle, Carolyn F. Brown- Daniels (Billy Ray), Rehema Oluefemi- Jones (Charles), Emmett Gordon (Mary), James Jackson Jr. and Mary P, Jackson. She is also remembered by one sister in-law, Mrs. JoAnne Smith, a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nephews, nieces, many other relatives and friends. The LORD gave Doris entrance into the earth on October 29, 1917 and called her to return to HIM on October 2, 2010. Services will be held at First Baptist Church, 312 Seamans Drive in McGehee, Arkansas. Service date and time is October 9, 2010 at 11 a.m. Family and Friend Hour will be held October 8, 2010 from 7 p.m. to 8 .p.m at Willis Funeral Home. The service is entrusted to Willis Funeral Home, McGehee, Arkansas.
