Vila Otheda Roe

Vila Otheda Roe, 88, of Benton, passed from this life October 6, 2010. She was born February 28, 1922 in Perry County to the late John and Lillie (Sharp) Shipp. Otheda was a member of Highway Church of Christ of Benton. She was preceded in death by her husband, Elton Roe, brothers, John and John Paul Shipp, sister, Oleda Tyree. Otheda was married in 1945 and was blessed with sons, Gary and wife, Christine of Little Rock, Leroy and wife, Kathy of Harrison, brothers, Henry Shipp of Little Rock and Jerome Shipp of Alabama, sisters, Ann Edens of Benton and Jean Edens of Benton, grandchildren, Sophonia Ashcraft, Brian Roe, Sherry Jones, Matthew Roe and Nathaniel Roe, seven grandchildren, Sarah, Dallas, and Katherine Roe, Giddeon, Quinn and Annastasia Roe, and Karly Jones. Otheda had a gentle understanding of children and her greatest joy in life was playing with her many great-grandchildren. She will be greatly missed. Chapel services by Ashby Funeral Home will be 2 p.m.,m Monday with burial to follow at Pine Crest Cemetery. Visitation will be 2 p.m. until 4 p.m. on Sunday at Ashbys.
