William Doyle Koonce

William Doyle Koonce, age 84, of Plumerville, Ark., passed away on Saturday, Oct. 16, in Little Rock. He was born in Lanty, Ark., a son of the late William Elmer Koonce and Tommye Elnora Sutton Koonce. He was a Baptist and attended Portland Missionary Baptist Church in Plumerville. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II, was a volunteer fireman for Plumerville Fire Department for 13 years, and was instrumental in establishing the police department for the city of Plumerville. Mr. Koonce was also a farmer; worked at Crompton Mills in Morrilton for 21 years and retired from Universal Nolan in Conway after working 16 years. He was preceded in death by three sisters and three brothers. He is survived by his wife of 63 ½ years, Jackie (Helen) Adams Koonce; two daughters, Diane (Larry) Kellar and Jan (Larry) Gordon all of Morrilton; four grandsons: John (Kasey) Kellar of Morrilton, Jeremy Kellar of Conway, Tyler William Kellar of Russellville and Brent Gordon of Morrilton; three great-grandsons: Benjamin, Samuel and Owen William Kellar of Morrilton. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 19, 2010, at the Harris Chapel with Bro. Lindy Davis officiating. Burial will be at Plummerville Cemetery by Harris Funeral Home of Morrilton.
