Iris Lee Jones

Iris Lee Jones, 101, of Cabot, Arkansas passed away peacefully from this life Thursday, September 1, 2010 at her home. She was born January 30, 1909 in Cardwell, Missouri to the late John Thomas and Martha Caroline Lockard. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by seven siblings; Carl, Bessie, Lawrence, Harold, and Truett Lockard, Lorene Wells, and Aline McNaughton, as well as her beloved husband of 76 years, Otha Jones. She enjoyed reading, was an excellent seamstress, an avid flower gardener and for many years a children's Sunday school teacher at First Baptist Church where she has been a member since 1945. She is survived by a sister, Mary Ellen Lockard of North Little Rock; children, John Lee Jones (Peggy) of De Queen, Ina Sue Hill (Jerry) of Cabot and Mary Lillian Taylor of Ward; grandchildren, Russell Jones of Hot Springs, M. LeAnn Stewart (David) of White House, Tennessee, James C. Jimerson of Indianapolis, Indiana, Janet Lowry (Bob) of Hot Springs; step-grandchildren, Derek Ballard (Jessica) of Texarkana, Brady Ballard (Nikki) of Hot Springs; two great grandchildren, eight step-great-grandchildren, and seven step-great-great-grandchildren, as well as nieces and nephews. Visitation will be Friday, September 3, 2010 from 6-8 p.m. at Moore's Cabot Funeral Home with Memorial Services at 10 a.m., Saturday, September 4, 2010 at First Baptist Church of Cabot. Burial will follow at Mt. Carmel Cemetery. Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church or Gideon's International.
