Don Mahurin

Don Mahurin, 83, of Little Rock, died September 6, 2010. He was born in Oden, Arkansas to Edward J. and Catherine (Pruitt) Mahurin on June 6, 1927. He is preceded in death by his parents and brother Clarence of Dumas. Survivors are his wife of 62 years, Pat (Henley) Mahurin; daughter, Stacey Mahurin-Hipps (Jack); son, Tony Mahurin; grandchildren Rachel and Dylan Mahurin, Jessica Hipps; four great-grandchildren; and brother, John (Mary Lou) of Star City. Don served in the United States Navy during World War II and again during the Korean war. His career spanned 42 years at Crow Burlingame Company, where he served in various positions, retiring as Vice-President and General Manager. After retiring, Don stayed busy playing golf, fishing, traveling, and maintaining the nicest yard in the neighborhood. Friends often commented that no one enjoyed retirement more than Don. He told friends that every day is Saturday when you're retired. Don was of the Baptist faith and an ordained deacon. He was a member of the Downtown Kiwanis Club and a 32 Degree Scottish Rite Mason. The family will receive friends at Roller-Chenal Funeral Home, (501) 224-8300, Thursday, September 9, 2010 from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. Funeral service will be held Friday, September 10, 2010 at Little Rock First Baptist Church at 2 p.m. Interment will be at Griffin Leggett Rest Hills following the service.
