Martha Jean "Mama Jean" Adams, 84, of England, went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, Friday, September, 10. She was born April 28, 1926 to the late Charlie and Inez Whayne. She was preceded in death by her husband James Benjamin Adams and grandson Kyle Adams. Martha Jean married her high-school sweetheart, James, on May 30, 1947. They were married 51 years. After they married, Martha Jean was a school teacher, homemaker, and also helped build the family farming business. She was a 64 year member of First Baptist Church of England, a member of the WMU, and a member of the Mary Martha Sunday School class. Martha Jean was an active member of her community, volunteering many hours at the local schools, food pantry, and nursing home and was voted "Volunteer of the Year" in 1990 by the England Area Chamber of Commerce, Mama Jean was a diehard Arkansas Razorback fan. Survivors include her children Jimmy and Nan Adams, Tommy and Susan Adams, and Joey and Fran Adams. Grandchildren include Jimbo and Kim Adams, Jason and Amber Martin, Add and Jennifer Adams, Lauren and Luis Arguelles, Ben Adams, Chris and Norma Edwards and Layne Adams. Great-grandchildren include Alex and Abigail Adams, Charli Adams, Dane Martin, Owen Edwards and three soon-to-be great-grandchildren. Funeral services are being handled by Roller England Funeral Home (501) 842-3939. Services will be Sunday, September 12th, 2010 at 2:30 p.m. at the First Baptist Church. Bro. Rick Hyde will be officiating. Visitation will be Saturday, September 11th, 2010 at First Baptist Church from 3-5 p.m. Burial will be in Mulberry Cemetery, England, Arkansas.
