Thomas "Hulen" Starkey, 82, of Conway, Arkansas, died Thursday, September 9, 2010, at his home. He was born March 29, 1928, in Conway, a son of the late William Thomas and Edith M. (Adcock) Starkey. He was also preceded in death by eigjht brothers and sisters. Mr. Starkey was retired from Starkey Construction, and worked hard to provide for his family. He enjoyed visiting Perry County, "God's Country," as he called it. Survivors are his wife of 44 years, Martha A. (Milam) Starkey of Conway; children, Richard Meriweather and wife Ruby of Conway; David Starkey and wife Sherry of Austin, Arkansas; Patricia Smith and husband Larry of Little Rock; Mary Jane Hawley and husband Michael of Ruston, Louisiana; eight grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren; brothers, Verlon Starkey, Truman Starkey; sisters, Dorothy Herzer and Evelyn Jane Burnett. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m., Saturday, September 11, 2010, at the funeral home. Funeral will be 1 p.m., Sunday, in the chapel of Roller-McNutt Funeral Home, Conway, with Dr. Michael Hawley officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery, with Ed Burnett, Robert Burnett, James Meriweather, John Meriweather, Jeff Meriweather, and Kenny Starkey serving as pallbearers.
