Ray Carlton Crosby

Ray Carlton Crosby Jr., 74, died Thursday, Sept. 23, 2010. Carlton was born Sept. 14, 1936, in Stuttgart to Ray and Stella Seeman Crosby. He was a Stuttgart High School graduate and attended North Texas State College in Denton, Texas. He retied in 2002 after 18 years of putting his heart into developing Wild Wings Hunting Club. He was a Ducks Unlimited sponsor, wildlife advocate, avid sportsman and never met a stranger. He was a 62-year member of First Christian Church in Stuttgart where he was church song leader, a dedicated choir member, trustee, past chairman of the board and Elder Emeritus. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Gene Crosby. Survivors are his wife of 53 years, Elsie Marie Sparks Crosby; two daughters, Carla Marie Earhart and husband Myron of Muncie, Ind., and Jan Crosby of Little Rock; sister, Carole Newton of Pine Bluff and two granddaughters, Lindsey Earhart of Bloomington, Ill. and Allison Earhart of Muncie, Ind. Funeral services, officiated by the Rev. Tom Haley, are 2 p.m. Saturday at First Christian Church with burial following in Lone Tree Cemetery by Turpin Funeral Home of Stuttgart. Visitation is 1-2 p.m. Saturday in the fellowship hall of First Christian Church. The family requests memorials to First Christian Church, 921 S. Main St., Stuttgart, Ark. 72160.
