Rod Carlon, age 83, of Cleveland, Arkansas, passed away Saturday, September 25, 2010. He was born October 17, 1926, in Piggott, Arkansas, a son of the late Walter Edgar Carlon and Mildred Blanche Ray Carlon. He was a member and Deacon of Morrilton Downtown Church of Christ. He was a World War II Navy Veteran, and also a retired construction supervisor with Southwestern Bell. Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Lois Brents Carlon of Cleveland; two sons and their wives, Tom and Sherrie Carlon of Fayetteville, David and Joanne Carlon of Jacksonville; a daughter and husband, Martha and Mike Barger of Conway; three brothers, James (Redline) Carlon of North Little Rock, Ancel Carlon and his wife Joan of Morrilton, and Boone Carlon of Fort Smith; three sisters, Erma Burnett of Denver, Colorado, Melba Dietrick and husband Don of Falling Waters, West Virginia, and Jean Himes of Houston, Texas; and four grandchildren, Jennifer Brewer and husband Charles of Searcy, Kimberly Carlon of Searcy, Lindsey Barger of Conway, and Samantha Carlon of Fayetteville. Funeral services will be 1 p.m., Wednesday, September 29, 2010, at the Morrilton Downtown Church of Christ with Mr. Randy Rankin officiating. Burial will be at Old Hickory Cemetery by Harris Funeral Home of Morrilton. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m., Tuesday, September 28, at the funeral home.
