Douglas Eugene "Gene" Woodyard

Douglas Eugene "Gene" Woodyard, 79 years old, of Helena, Arkansas, born November 29, 1931, went to be with the Lord Tuesday, April 5, 2011. He is preceded in death by a son, Douglas Eugene Woodyard, Jr.; father and mother, H.M. and Fanie Mae Woodyard; three sisters and seven brothers. He is survived by two daughters, Kappi Ross and Margaret Woodyard of Little Rock, Arkansas; two brothers, M.B. Woodyard of Houston, Texas and Howard Woodyard Sr. of Helena, Arkansas; and many loving nephews and nieces. He loved his family and greatly enjoyed our large family gatherings. He was a sports fan, having played sports in high school. He liked to hunt, fish, work in his yard and looked forward to planting a vegetable garden every spring. He was a kind and gentle man, a wonderful father, and known for helping others. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. The funeral services for Mr. Gene Woodyard will be 2 p.m., Friday, April 8, 2011 at Roller-Citizens Funeral Home in West Helena, Arkansas. There will be a viewing for family and friends at Roller-Citizens on Thursday, April 7, 2011 from 6-8 p.m. Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Park in West Helena.
