Kathryn Walker Sykes

Kathryn Walker Sykes, 86 of El Dorado, Arkansas, passed on April 2nd, 2011 at Circle of Life Hospice in Springdale, Arkansas. Kathryn was born on April 9th, 1924 in Homer, Louisiana to Frank and Birdie Walker. She met and married Otto T. Sykes in 1958 while they were working at Jet Drilling Company in Shreveport, Louisiana. Kathryn, Otto and their daughter Karen moved to El Dorado, Arkansas where they were members of Second Baptist Church. After the death of her husband in 2004, Kathryn moved to Northwest Arkansas to be with her daughter. In addition to being a devoted wife and mother, Kathryn was an expert seamstress. She is survived by her daughter Karen Sykes of Rogers, Arkansas, a niece Kay Ketchum and husband Gary Ketchum of Kilgore, Texas and nephews Ernie Paul of Longview, Texas and Roger Walker of Fairhope, Alabama and wife Jeannie. Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m., Friday, April 8th at Young's Funeral Directors of Distinction, 508 Champagnolle Rd., El Dorado, Arkansas 71730. The funeral service will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, April 9th at Young's Chapel with Rev. Bruce Murphy officiating. Burial will follow at Arlington Memorial Park.
