Ron Harris, 61, of Magnolia, Arkansas passed away on Tuesday, April 5, 2011 at his home surrounded by his family. He was born on January 13, 1950 in Little Rock, Arkansas, he was a veteran serving with the Arkansas Air National Guard, and was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church in Magnolia. Ron dedicated his career to many public school systems in Arkansas which ended as superintendent of schools as well as coaching many sports to hundreds of students. He is preceded in death by his father, Roy Allen Harris, Sr. and a brother, Roy Allen Harris, Jr. Ron is survived by his wife of 41 years, Madeline Harris of Magnolia; three daughters, Melinda Harris of Emerson, Arkansas, Shannon Pyle and husband Darwin of Magnolia, Lacey Fincher and husband Jason of Magnolia, Arkansas; his mother, Melva Grandon of Benton, Arkansas; three grandchildren, Lexi Pyle, Savannah Pyle and Wesley Fincher all of Magnolia, Arkansas; one brother, Danny Harris and wife Janice of Little Rock, Arkansas; two sisters, Marilyn Hoyt and husband Larry of Sheridan, Arkansas, Shirley Collins of Benton; and a sister-in-law, Ginger Harris of Little Rock. Funeral services will be held on Friday, April 8, 2011 at 2 p.m. at Immanuel Baptist Church with Bro. Steven McAbee, Bro. Richard Britt and Paul Noesser officiating. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Lewis Funeral Home, Inc. of Magnolia. Visitation with the family will be on Thursday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Ron Harris Scholarship Fund at SAU Foundation at www.saufoundation.org.
