JAMES CALVIN DAVIS, 83, of Little Rock, passed away on Saturday, April 9, 2011. He was born in Little Rock to the late James M and Irene (South) Davis on May 31, 1927. He worked as a business machine repairman for Capitol Business Machines. James was the sexton for Halstead Cemetery also known as Mount Pleasant Cemetery. He was a longtime member of Mount Pleasant United Methodist Church and enjoyed singing in the choir. James spent time gardening and fishing and appreciated the outdoors. He loved to gamble at the casino and play the horses at numerous tracks throughout the country. He leaves to cherish his memory his children Scott Davis and his wife Debra of Hot Springs National Park and Stephanie Nichol Beason and her husband David of Little Rock; his brothers, Kenneth Davis and his wife Ruth of Little Rock and Albert Davis and his wife Sandra of Garfield, Ark.; his grandchildren, Sean and his wife Amy and Vanessa and her husband Gene; six great-grandchildren and a host of extended family and friends, all who will miss his smile and his loving ways. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to Mount Pleasant United Methodist Church, 5025 Church Road, Little Rock, Ark. (501) 224-5180.
