James A. Parnell

James A. Parnell, age 94, of Pine Bluff, died Saturday, April 9, 2011, at Jefferson Regional Medical Center. Mr. Parnell was born Nov. 23, 1916, in Pine Bluff, Ark., the son of the late Thomas and Harriett Samuel Parnell. Mr. Parnell was reared and educated in Little Rock where he graduated from Little Rock Central High School. He moved to Pine Bluff from Little Rock in 1985. He was a member of Park Hill Baptist Church in North Little Rock and was an avid Razorback fan. He was a veteran of World War II having served in the U S Coast Guard. He worked for Wiengarten Foods for 24 years retiring in 1977 as store manager. Mr. Parnell was preceded in death in 2006, by his wife, Irma Juanita Paxton, whom he married June 15, 1958, in Prattsville. Mr. Parnell is survived by two sisters-in-laws, Theda Ashcraft of Pine Bluff and Mabel Wynne of Little Rock; six nieces and two nephews. Funeral services will be Monday, April 11, 2011, at 10 a.m. in the Chapel of Ralph Robinson & Son with Reverend Christopher Lucy officiating. Burial will be in Philadelphia Cemetery at Prattsville.
