Samuel J. Talley, 74, of Wake Village, Texas was received into Heaven and given a new body on Friday, April 8, 2011 in Texarkana, Texas. Sam was born July 29, 1936 in New Orleans, La. He was a retired civil engineer who helped build the first section of Loop 245 in Texarkana, Ark. as well as roadways in Louisiana, Mississippi and Georgia, where one of his projects was the access roads and parking areas of the Georgia Dome in Atlanta. He was preceded in death by his parents Darden S. Talley of New Orleans, La. and Virginia Day Talley of Shongaloo, La.; his oldest son, Jay Talley of Calico Rock, Ark. and his youngest brother, Lee Talley of Gurdon, Ark. Survivors include his first wife, Dixie B. Talley of Mountain Home, Ark. and their children Clay Talley of Mountain Home, Leah Moore of Kansas City, Mo., and Tara Talley of Beebe, Ark.; and his wife, the love of his life for 40 years, Debra Eaton Talley and their daughter and son-in-law, Holly Samantha and Eric Winters of Wake Village, Texas; his brother and sister-in-law, Tom and Louise Talley of Leton, La.; his sister and brother-in-law, Betty and Blane Earon of Flowery Branch, Ga.; his double-ex brother-in-law and his wife, Lloyd and Susan Elkins of Ruston, La.; his ex-sister-in-law, Pam Harris of Cedar Hill, Texas; eight grandchildren and his toy rescue Pomeranian, Lil' Man. Sam was a Christian who taught Bible classes at church and in prisons until his health began to fail. Following cremation he will rest in his beloved daylily garden.
