Sharon Harwood Knighten

Sharon Harwood Knighten, age 76, of Harrison, Ark., passed away, Wednesday, April 6, 2011. She was born Feb. 23, 1935 in Cass, Ark., a daughter of Hervy Harwood and Jewell Cooper Harwood. She was the widow of Millard B. "Slick" Knighten. Mrs. Knighten was a retired teacher, member of Northside Church of Christ of Harrison, Delta Kappa Gamma, Retired Teachers Association, Master Gardeners, Lions Club, American Home Economics Association, and Arkansas Vocational Association. Survivors include her daughter, Kim Oelke and husband Jim of Harrison; sister, Karen Koch of Fayetteville; grandsons, Matthew James Oelke of Springfield, Mo. and Wesley Berwyn Oelke of Ft. Smith. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Monday, April 11, at Harris Chapel with Dr. Bill Brown officiating. Burial will be at Cleveland Cemetery by Harris Funeral Home of Morrilton. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, April 10, at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to UAMS College of Nursing where Mrs. Knighten established the Knighten Family Endowment.
