Cheryl Renee Smith Bentley was born on September 1, 1964 in Batesville, Arkansas to Bobby Joe and Delores Smith. Her God and her family and friends helped her in her fierce fight against cancer for over eight years. Cheryl departed this life on Wednesday, April 13, 2011 at her home with her family. Cheryl found her life-mate, Brent, at the age of six. Spending 41 years together and raising two beautiful daughters, Cheryl lived her dream of being a wife and mother, and she was the best of both. Cheryl had a strong faith that never wavered and this was exemplified in her constant devotion to the First United Methodist Church. Even in her illness she was an amazing woman that all admired. She was the perfect mother, wife, daughter, sister, sister-in-law, daughter-in-law, aunt, niece, cousin, friend and teacher. Cheryl taught in the Batesville School System for 23 years. (Every student wanted "Mrs. Bentley" as his/her teacher) Each life she touched as a teacher was enriched intellectually, emotionally and spiritually. All of Batesville is mourning our loss in losing Cheryl Renee Bentley. Cheryl is survived by her husband, Marshall Bentley of Batesville; two daughters, Roxanne Elizabeth Bentley a senior at Batesville High School and Scarlett Liliana Bentley a freshman at Batesville Jr. High, both of the home; father, Bobby Joe Smith of Locust Grove; and brother, Kendall Joe Smith of Batesville. She was preceded in death by her mother, Delores Qualls; grandparents, John and Nola Wood and Scid and Eva Smith. Graveside services will be at 10:30 a.m., Friday, April 15th at Oaklawn Cemetery in Batesville and funeral services will be at 1 p.m., Friday, April 15th at the First United Methodist Church in Batesville with Rev. Bob Burton, Rev. Kay Burton, and Rev. Lavon Post officiating. Pallbearers are Marshall Bentley, Kendall Smith, Bobby Smith, Larry Bentley, Brian Marshall and Jerry Wood.
