George Calhoon, 93, of Texarkana, died Tuesday. Mr. Calhoon was born August 15, 1917 in Hempstead County, Arkansas. He had been a longtime resident of Lewisville, Arkansas where he had been a member, Deacon, and Sunday School Teacher at First Baptist Church. He was retired from USDA Soil Conservation Service, had been Lafayette County Surveyor, and was a Veteran of the U.S. Army. He was preceded in death by his wife, Gracie Calhoon. Survivors are two sons, Wiley Calhoon (Pat) of Texarkana, Tom Calhoon (Nina) of Arkadelphia, two daughters, Shirey Coleman (Frank) and Connie Smith (Harry) of Texarkana, 10 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren, and brother, Lile Calhoon of Dallas, Texas. Services are at 10 a.m., Friday at Texarkana Funeral Home, Arkansas. Burial will be at Wilson Cemetery, Lewisville. Visitation Thursday at the funeral home from 6:30 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. Memorials may be made to Wilson Cemetery, c/o Bobbie Goza, 2703 Lafayette County 5, Lewisville, Ark., 71854.
