Peyton Alexander (PA) Lundy, Jr.

Peyton Alexander (PA) Lundy, Jr., of Lake Village, Arkansas died Monday, April 18, 2011. He was born April 12, 1913 in Rock Island, Texas to the late Oral and Peyton Alexander Lundy, Sr. He is survived by a son, James (Jim) Peyton Lundy of Lake Village, Arkansas; brother Robert (Betty) Lundy of Texas City, Texas; sister-in-law Katherine Lundy of El Campo, Texas; grandson John Jeffrey Plant (Natalie) of Hobbs, New Mexico; granddaughter Amy Clark Pieroni of Glen Alan, Mississippi; great-granddaughters Madelyn and Malori Pieroni, and a great-grandson, Blake Pieroni all of Lake Village, Arkansas. Mr. Lundy was preceded in death by his wife of 73 years, Margaret Reynolds Lundy; daughter Brenda Lundy Clark; brother Delano Briggs Lundy, and a great-grandson Cullen Pieroni. Born and raised in Texas, Mr. Lundy became involved in the cattle business at an early age with his father. After high school graduation, P.A. moved to Houston, Texas to further his education and used his athletic skills to play semi-pro baseball for the Hughes Tool Co. team. He married Margaret Reynolds in 1936 and began a career with Shell Oil Co. as a surveyor. Margaret and P.A. moved around Texas and Louisiana as their long married life began. In 1939 a daughter Brenda was born while living in Olney, Texas. At the advent of WWII, he became the manager of The Kelly Plantation in Madison, Florida. He and Margaret began a life of farming and cattle ranching. P.A. kept close ties to El Campo and returned to manage a livestock auction operation. P.A. purchased his first section of farmland in Chicot County, Arkansas in 1952. This land was used as a cattle ranch until the late 1960's, and was later changed to a soybean, cotton and milo farm. After living in both El Campo and Lake Village for several years, the family made Lake Village their home after the birth of their son, James (Jim) Peyton Lundy in 1960. Mr. Lundy remained an active farmer until his mid 80's. Funeral services will be held at First Baptist Church in El Campo, Texas on Thursday, April 21, 2011, at 2 p.m. with Rev. Rick DuBroc officiating. Burial will follow at the Garden of Memories Cemetery in El Campo. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a charity of choice.
