Jack Whillock, 88, of Clinton, Arkansas passed away Tuesday, April 26, 2011 at Ozark Health Medical Center Clinton, Arkansas. He was born November 21, 1922 at Clinton, Arkansas to the late Joseph T. and Esther (Gray) Whillock. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Claude, Joe and George Whillock and four sisters, Edith, Mae, Grace, and Jean. Jack was the last survivor of the J.T. & Ester Whillock Family. He loved them dearly and they him. He is survived by his wife of 70 years Ruth Mae (Shannon) Whillock, one son, Jack F. Whillock and wife Mary of Arlington, Texas; three grandchildren, Kirk, Jay, and Holly, two step-grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Jack was the Clinton Postmaster for several decades and active in the State Postmasters Association. In the Clinton Flood of 1982 he braved the high floodwaters in the post office and salvaged the wet but still negotiable Social Security checks for the people of Clinton. He was a mason of the highest degree and tutored many prospective masons. Jack was the first quarterback on the first football team ever fielded in Clinton. He was a Naval Veteran of World War II. His memory will be cherished for his generous spirit and quick wit. Pallbearers: Kirk Whillock, Jay Whillock, John Whillock, Ken Whillock, Scott Whillock, Tollie Whillock, Danny Shannon, and Dean McKnight. Honorary Pallbearers: Joe Paul Henderson, Phillip Henderson, Milton Deason, Ted Whillock, Kenny Whillock, Joe Tom Whillock, Larry Shannon, Dwayne Shannon, Doug Maulden, Roy Gray Jennings, and Robert Lewis. Visitation will be 5-8 p.m., Friday, April 29, 2011 at Roller McNutt Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral Service will be 1 p.m., Saturday, April 30, 2011 at Clinton First United Methodist Church with Pastor Vaughn Marsden officiating. Burial will follow at Hunter Hill Cemetery in Clinton.
