Arthur "Art" Aist

Arthur "Art" Aist, 76, of Conway passed away Sunday August 14, 2011 at Heritage Living Center in Conway. He was born March 22, 1935 in Washington D.C. to the late Rev. Stewart and Carolyn (Thornburg) Aist. Art was also preceded in death by a brother, Edward Aist. Art loved the Lord and was a longtime member of the Heber Springs United Methodist Church until recently moving to Conway and attended Grace United Methodist Church. He was a 1953 graduate of Vilonia High School and later earned his B.S. at UALR. He retired from Southwestern Bell as Building Operations Manager after 34 years. Art loved singing and southern gospel music. He especially enjoyed singing in the church choir. He enjoyed fishing and his favorite place to be was Greers Ferry Lake, where he had some of his happiest times. Art had a good sense of humor and loved joking. He loved his family and grandchildren and was very proud of them all. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Clema Sue Aist, two sons, Mike Aist (Kay) of Cabot, Marty Aist (Rhonda) of Conway, one daughter, Karen Moix (Keith) of Conway, brothers, Gene Aist (Anna) of Aurora, Colo., John Aist (Carlotta) of Fayetteville, Ark., Jim Aist (Jan) of Knoxville, Tenn., sisters, Carol Hartsfield (Curtis) of Memphis, Tenn., Linda Henley of Little Rock, Christal Farris ( Randy) of Mountain View, and Susan Harris (Don) of North Little Rock, grandchildren, Matthew Moix (Lana), Adam Moix (Lisa), Jordan Moix, Bethany Moix, Callie Ham (Garrett), Jason Aist, Brandon Aist (Jordan), Alex Aist, and Connor Aist, great-grandsons, Ryder, Charlie, and Huston, and numerous nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held 10 a.m., Friday August 19, 2011 at Roller-McNutt Funeral Home, Conway(501-327-7727), with Rev. Greg Comer officiating. Visitation will be 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Heber Springs United Methodist Church. The six grandsons will be serving as honorary pallbearers.
