Rebecca L. Grumbles

Rebecca L. Grumbles, 91, was born January 2, 1920 to Walter Earnest and Pinkie Neal Free and passed away August 14, 2011 at Parkway Health Center. She was a graduate of Arkansas Tech and received a masters degree in Education from the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville. Becky taught school in Little Rock for 30 years. She was past president of the Primary Teachers of Arkansas Education Association and the Association of Childhood Education, International. Since her retirement, Becky enjoyed traveling abroad, ballroom dancing, helping organize trips with friend Betty Hall for A Way We Go Tours and playing bridge. Becky is survived by her sister, Peggy Vogelsang and husband Herb of Miami, Florida, niece, Martha Henry and nephew, Bill Free as well as great-nephews and cousins. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, Clyde Grumbles, brother, William E. "Billy" Free and niece, Margaret Dianne Free Browning. A special thanks to the staff of Parkway Health Center and Baptist Health Hospice. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Rebecca L. Grumbles Education Fund, c/o St. James United Methodist Church, 321 Pleasant Valley Drive, Little Rock, Ark. 72212 or c/o Arkansas Tech University Foundation, 1509 N. Boulder Avenue, Russellville, Ark. 72801 where a scholarship will be setup in her memory. Her service will be at 10 a.m. on Thursday, August 18 at St. James United Methodist Church. Burial will be at 1 p.m. in Memorial Park Cemetery & Mausoleum, 6707 Dollarway Road, Pine Bluff, Ark. Funeral arrangements are by Roller-Chenal Funeral Home.
