John Charles DeGroodt

John Charles DeGroodt, 86, of North Little Rock passed away Sunday, August 21, 2011. John was born in Nevada, Mo. to the late John Joseph and Clara Helen Cooms DeGroodt. He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Annabel DeGroodt; son, Michael DeGroodt and grandson, Mark DeGroodt. John was a member of Central Baptist Church, Euton Sunday School Class and Carpenter Union. He was past president of Volunteer Crime Watch at Scenic Hill also for the City of North Little Rock. John retired from Missouri Pacific Railroad in the Construction Department. His past time was spent fishing and volunteering for different organizations. He is survived by his wife, Ellen Holmes Bailey DeGroodt; a granddaughter, Jennifer Elaine DeGroodt; and a host of other family and friends. Funeral service will be 10 a.m., Wednesday, August 24, 2011 at Roller-Owens Funeral Home Chapel (501-791-7400) with Reverend Wyman Richardson officiating. Interment will follow at Rest Hills Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m., Tuesday, August 23, at the funeral home.
