Ross Eldon Breshears, age 88, of Little Rock, passed away on August 26th, 2011. He leaves behind a host of wonderful memories and will be waiting for family and friends who are believers to join him for eternity. He was married on the 16th of August 1946 to Gillette Daugherty of Mobile, Alabama. The happily married couple celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary on August 16th, 2011. God allowed Ross and Gill (short for Gillette), to be blessed with two children, Anita Breshears Morgeson, husband Dan, son Matt, and daughter, Kim of Edmond, Okla.; Don Breshears, son, Blake, wife, Stacie, daughter, Dixie, and son, Wyatt, of Little Rock. Dad enlisted in the United States Navy upon graduating from Southwest Missouri State in 1947. Upon completion of Officer Candidate School, he was assigned to duty at Norfolk, Virginia. This is where he met his future bride, a Navy nurse, on the dance floor and the rest is history. He was involved in the Korean War and the Bay of Pigs Conflict in Cuba. He retired at the rank of Commander after 22 years of faithful service to his country. Dad went to work for Southwestern Bell Telephone Company where he retired with 38 years of loyal service. Dad was very involved with his church and church family. He was a deacon at Immanuel Baptist Church where he and his wife were members since 1947. Ross was a man of few words, but we learned the words he spoke were important. He knew exactly when to express the importance of an event or situation and was always able to provide valuable advice, which we often did not realize until later. We never went without if it was in his ability to provide it to us. He was fair, honest, trustworthy and loving. Visitation will be Tuesday, August 30 from 6-8 p.m. at the Immanuel Baptist Church Chapel. Services with Military Honors will be Wednesday, August 31 at 11 a.m., at the Church, officiated by Rev. Gary Hollingsworth. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Immanuel Baptist Church Building Fund. Arrangements by Little Rock Funeral Home, 8801 Knoedl Ct., Little Rock, (501) 224-2200. Mr. Breshears' online guestbook may be signed at www.littlerockfuneralhome.com.
