Truman H. Smith Jr., age 73, of Fayetteville died Saturday August 27, 2011 in Fayetteville. He was born September 12, 1937 in Paris, Arkansas to Truman H. Smith Sr. and Lula Grace Payne Smith. He was a member of Central United Methodist Church in Fayetteville. He was preceded in death by his daughter Melanie Lynne Smith, and his mother and father. He was past president of the Washington County Bar Association, small claims judge in Washington County, jurist Doctorate degree at the University of Arkansas, DAV man of the year in 1977, honored by board of directors for the legal counsel for the Richardson Center, proclamation by the mayor of Fayetteville as Truman Smith Day in Fayetteville. He was a member of Sigma Nu Fraternity at the University of Arkansas. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy serving in the Vietnam War. He is survived by his wife Lynn Smith, one daughter, Charlotte E. Smith of Fayetteville; brother, Ray Smith and his wife Marilyn of Fayetteville; two sisters, Dottie Smith McDaniel of Wilson, Ark.; Mary Sue Smith of San Diego, Calif.; nieces, Amy Smith Patterson and her husband Harold of Van Alstyne, Texas; Susan Smith of Los Angeles, Calif.; nephews, Todd Smith and his wife Clarissa of Fayetteville; Ryan Smith U.S. Navy, Blake Smith and his wife Naomi of San Diego, Calif.; Chris Smith and his wife Pam of LaJolla, Calif.; Steve Smith and his wife Nicolle of San Diego, Calif.; 10 great-nieces and nephews, Nicholas, Harrison and Houston Smith of Fayetteville; Heather Patterson Martin of McKinney, Texas; Lindsey Patterson of Dallas, Texas; Sarah, Matthew and Courtney Smith of San Diego, Calif.; Jessica Smith of New York City, N.Y.; Morgan Smith of LaJolla, Calif.; Landry Martin of McKinney, Texas; brother-in-law, Dr. Louie A. Galloway III and his wife Harriett of Houston, Texas; niece, Vickie Burnett and her husband Russell of Maumelle, Ark.; nephew, Louie A. Galloway of Houston, Texas; great-nieces and nephews, Stephen Burnett of Shreveport, La.; Jeannie Burnett of Maumelle, Ark.; Louie A. Galloway V of Prairie Grove, Ark.; Courtney Galloway of Prairie Grove, Ark.; Erin Galloway of Prairie Grove, Ark. Visitation will be 6 p.m. - 8 p.m., Monday, August 29, 2011 at Moore's Chapel. Memorial service will be 2 p.m., Tuesday at Central United Methodist Church in Fayetteville with burial of ashes at Fairview Memorial Gardens under the direction of Moore's Chapel.
