Hazel Cox Powell

Hazel Cox Powell, 91, of Little Rock, passed away December 5, 2011. She was born in Prescott to George and Jewel Barham Cox and was a member of Primrose United Methodist Church. She was a retired teacher from the Little Rock School District. Preceded in death by her husband, Woodrow L. Powell, brother, Barham Cox and sister, Glendene Haynie, she is survived by her brothers, Pershing Cox and George N. Cox and wife, Joy, both of Prescott, and Charles L. Cox of Ashdown; her sister, Mary J. Powell and husband, Rayburn of Conway; and a host of nieces and nephews. Hazel never met a stranger. She was the most generous and loving person you would ever meet, always thinking of others and what she could do for someone else. She was everyone's favorite teacher back in her teaching days, everyone's favorite aunt and a great friend to whoever had the pleasure of knowing her. Hazel was a wonderful person and will be greatly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Services will be Thursday, December 8 at 1 p.m. at Little Rock Funeral Home, 8801 Knoedl Ct. (NW corner I-630 and Barrow Rd.), followed by interment at May Cemetery in Houston, Arkansas. Visitation will precede the service, beginning at noon.
