Hickey H. Himstedt

Hickey H. Himstedt, Jr., longtime resident of Lonoke and most recently of Searcy, passed away Feb. 19, 2011. He was born on Nov. 2, 1931 in Little Rock, Ark. to Hickey H. Himstedt Sr. and Louise Mahoney Himstedt. Mr. Himstedt was preceded in death by his wife of 47 years, Sue Moran Himstedt; his parents; and one infant son. Hickey is survived by his four children, Lucy Himstedt and husband, Don Richard of Evansville, Ind.; H. Henry Himstedt III and wife Kim Hoggard Himstedt of Searcy; Michael Himstedt, and Paul M. Himstedt and wife Leslie Butler Himstedt of North Little Rock. He was "Poppa" to six grandchildren, Heath, Hayley, Ashleigh, Anna, Matthew and Drew; and his favorite canine companion, Hero. Hickey graduated from Catholic High School in Little Rock in 1949 and the University of Arkansas in 1956 where he was a member of Sigma Nu social fraternity and Alpha Zeta, Gamma Sigma Delta and Phi Sigma honorary fraternities. Mr. Himstedt was a life-long member of the Beech Creek Hunting Club of Hermitage. A visitation for family and friends will be at Boyd Funeral Home in Lonoke, Monday, Feb. 21, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. followed by recitation of the Rosary. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Rose Catholic Church in Carlisle, Tuesday, beginning at 11 a.m. Interment will be at the Oakland Cemetery in Little Rock, Ark. later in the afternoon. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to: The Michael J. Moran Scholarship Fund at Catholic High School, St. James Catholic Church in Searcy, or St. Rose Catholic Church in Carlisle.
